With this exercise, you will strengthen the back that will help support the muscles you develop in front. Lie back on the floor with your head slightly elevated. Arms need to be kept straight down your sides. Raise your knees and feet off the floor and for 20 seconds, then ‘flutter’ your legs as fast as your can.

Twist crunches

They are comparable to crunches, but offer an excellent opportunity to work on the love handles. Start in the same position as the previous exercise, only this time keep your hands behind the head - which as slightly elevated like before - and use your core to bring your left elbow near your right knee. Once there breathe while you count to 3, then come back to the floor. Now do it for the other leg and see if you can manage it 25 times.

Standing trunk twists

This workout is very effective for both burning fat and toning muscle. Whilst standing with your feet wide apart, keeping your hips and your legs stable, twist to the left. Repeat for the opposite side and complete another 100.

Tae Bo

Tae Bo is an ideal workout that not only works to tone your obliques, but also provides you with a good cardio workout. That specific area is involved in the turning movements that you do while you kick and punch, besides the overall activity burning considerable amounts of fat.
