Walking Is A Great Way To Fast Fat Loss

March 10th, 2010 by Patrick in Lose Weight

Walking is hard to beat as a simple readily available way to exercise. Take a friend along and get started on your program to get weight loss fast. Walking uses all of the body and so lots of muscles are used which will burn those calories both during the exercise and for quite a while after.

Your goals will be achieved quicker by using the big muscle groups. Your leg muscles are a large part of your muscle mass and will therefore burn those calories faster and help get that weight loss fast.

Exercising stomach muscles is the least effective way to get rid of stomach fat as it is proportionally a very small muscle. The fat a lot of men find on their stomach is best reduced by using the major muscle groups rather than the small ones. So it is best to look for any exercise that can use the large muscles rather than the small.

The good thing about walking is that it is low impact relative to many exercises and so tendons and joints are less likely to be injured than if you took up running, especially at the start of an exercise program. Walking can be built in to other activities such as a game of golf, and if you are like me then this can mean quite a bit of walking. Take a walk out along a beach at dawn and dusk, what could be better.

If you are feeling fitter then go out for a game of tennis, or soccer, or a friendly game of basketball or baseball. These activities all use the major muscle groups and will burn those calories and assist in losing that weight fast.

In order to improve even faster and benefit more from your walk then diet is critical. Fruit and vegetables, especially fresh will provide the vitamins you need and keep you feeling as though you are full for longer. Another tip is to try and have a smaller meal for dinner so that your body does not go into storage mode while you are sleeping.

To stop cravings smaller meals taken more often is the answer. skipping a meal to lower food consumption is not the answer as your body will overcompensate and store any calories it can locate so that it won’t starve.

To continue on the theme of small, small mouthfuls of food, well chewed are also a good idea. By doing this the body has more of a chance to be able to signal that the stomach is full. To kick start your metabolism it is not a good idea to skip breakfast. This is what starts the body working in the morning.

And last but not least water is very important to the human body for most bodily functions. Dehydration also affects the brain function and reasoning ability. Having a glass of water can also help to reduce hunger pangs before the next meal is due.

Healthy Weight Loss Is Really Important

January 6th, 2010 by Patrick in Lose Weight

People in North America in particular have had a deteriorating diet and a battle with healthy weight loss. Many have tried all kinds of diets, we have cut out food groups, counted calories, kept food diaries, and generally tried to eat less than what we crave. We often do see weight loss when on a diet, which provides some motivation. We lose this again when we put the weight back on at the end of the diet, and often gain even more.

What in fact we need is to not go on a diet, but rather change the type of food we are eating, and move to healthy alternatives . It would be great to eat what-ever we wanted but we will gain weight and suffer the consequences to our health.

Healthy weight loss must also incorporate an effective exercise program, and many diet programs neglect to even mention this. Many diet plans are unexciting, monotonous, and minus any flavor. We are dying for them to end, only to then put all the weight back on.

Repeat dieting, and following the latest fad, often just makes it more difficult to lose weight. Our bodies don’t know what is happening and can get all out of synch. What we really need is a healthy lifestyle with lots of fresh and unprocessed food in modest quantities, that can also satisfy out cravings, and one that we can stick to for the rest of our lives.

In order to be successful with healthy weight loss we need to follow a plan that is simple, logical, and easy to implement. We need to be satisfied, otherwise we will not stay with it. It has to be healthy with the right mix of macro-nutrients so we will lose weight and start to feel more empowered.

Healthy weight loss should also be gradual and incremental so that when we look in the mirror we can see sustainable progress. This will strengthen our desire to continue, rather than the diet and binge cycle that is often evident .

Diets basically fail most people and more than once, they do not produce long-term benefits, and often make us feel worse about ourselves rather than better. This can be an emotional roller coaster which doesn’t help us to stick with the diet.

A diet fails in the long run because by reducing calorie consumption our genetics kick in and push the body to adjust and move to a survival approach. Our body slows metabolism and tries to store even more fat, and will also tend to use muscle for fuel in preference. By being on a diet we have likely lost muscle which will slow our metabolism. This leads to gaining even more fat even only when we are eating what we did before until we can regain the muscle.

Healthy weight loss does not incorporate the ideas of many diets which are geared to reducing food consumption  to lower weight. Lower weight is not the only goal.. Individuals involved in a regular exercise program often find that they do not lose any weight. How-ever they are losing fat and gaining muscle.

We need to stop our fascination with the latest diet fad and shift emphasis to a balanced workout regime supported by a balanced and healthy diet. This diet will incorporate all the elements of healthy eating and be low in fat, have adequate protein from a variety of sources, and fresh carbohydrate to give the muscles the energy needed.
